Capturing a moment of peace and relaxeation as J. Chambers began his journey of reconnecting to his ancestoral homeland - Jamaica. HOMECOMING is the embodiment of the moment we find we reach our safest spaces and can relax our daily shields and armour, and be our true selves.

Jab Man

Born out of resistance and rebellion, fueled by the fight and sheer willpower of those who have walked before us. Covered in molassas, oil or mud, the Jab are fearsome characters that represent a form of defiance and rebellion rooted in the Caribbean’s colonial past.

Unity Hike

This image was captured on a 14km hike that rained throughout. The image encapsulated the joy that existed within the safe space of the group regadless of the circumstances.

Family meeting

In my culture, the family unit is the core of our universe. And our elders are our guides through it. These are my two oldest uncles and the patriachs of my family. At points of celebration and sadness, we gather and listen to them speak life into death, speak hope into dispair, speak resilience into challenges.

And everyone humbly listens and learns.

Mbonyi

Outside of Africa, ‘Mbonyi’, or maize is used for industrial purposes like reating ethanol, animal feed, and plastic.

In Zambia, maize is an excellent source of protein and amino acids while being high in fibre and is relatively low in fat.

J'Ouvert - morning time or day break, became a way for West Indians and Africans to embrace freedom and participate in Carnival.

Beginning as a mini-carnival staged by enslaved people who were banned from participating in the French-led Carnivals.
